Our main crop is Scabiosa. We currently grow six varieties of Scabiosa caucasica;
light blue Davida
light blue Alice Blue
dark blue Staefa
Besides the cultivation of Scabiosa causasica Staefa and our own variety Scabiosa caucasica Annabelle we are active in breeding. As a result we introduced four new varieties in 2015 on the market. These are the varieties Scabiosa caucasica : Davida, Hanneke, Isabelle and Alice Blue.
These varieties are available in small numbers from late May through November.
To extend the season we started with cultivation in Portugal in 2016. These flowers are being sold in the Netherlands. The first products have already been auctioned. These are small numbers, auctioned on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. We are going to expand to larger numbers early in the season and possibly later in the season. Our Scabiosa season begins in March with the Portuguese production and then we continue with the varieties produced in the Netherlands.
The propagation of these new species to large numbers takes some years. The plants are divided each year and that will result in sufficient numbers for introduction to the market after 8-9 years.
